Green IT Initiative of the Year award goes to IBM

I just read that IBM was presented with the Green IT Initiative of the Year award at the fifth annual CNET Networks UK Business Technology Awards on Monday, mainly for its Project Big Green initiative, aimed at improving the efficiency of data centers. Urged to improve the extent to which the IT industry is really embracing green technology.

According to IBM the company operate eight million square feet of data center space on six continents, in which it expects to save more than five billion kilowatt hours per year. Nice.

looks like quite a small cluster, we have a much bigger one and a whole building to cool it down.

that said, IBM is definitely the most eco-friendly IT company out there, and i mean cyber eco not just power efficient....
